19th Cent. Alfonso XII, King of Spain.

Alfonso de Borbón was born on 28 November 1857.  He was the son of Isabella II, Queen of the Spains (10 October 1830 - 10 April 1904) and Francisco de Asis de Borbón (13 May 1822 - 17 April 1902). His maternal grandparents were Maria Christina of the Two Sicilies (27 April 1806 - 22 July 1878) and Ferdinand VII, King of Spain (14 October 1784 - 29 September 1833). His paternal grandparents were Princess Luisa Carlotta of Bourbon-Two Sicilies and Francisco de Paula of Spain, Duke of Cadiz. Alfonsos' parents were married on 10 October 1846. His siblings were: Fernando de Borbón (1850-1850), Maria Isabel de Borbón (1851-1931), Cristina de Borbón (1854-1854), Maria de la Conception de Borbón (1861-1879), Maria del Pilar de Borbón (1861-1879), Maria de la Paz de Borbón (1862-1946), Maria Eulalia Francisca de Asis de la Piedad de Borbón (1864-1958) and Francisco de Asis (1866-1866). Revolution forced Isabella II from her throne on 30 September 1868. The Royal family then went into exile in France. Isabella II abdicated in favor of her son, as Alfonso XII on 25 June 1870. Alfonso XII regained the Spanish crown on 29 December 1874. Alfonso XII was crowned King of Spain in 1875. Alfonso XII was engaged to Maria de las Mercedes d'Orleans  (24 June 1860 - 26 June 1878) in December 1877, at a ball. She was the daughter of Maria Luisa Fernanda of Spain, Duchess of Montpensier (30 January 1832 - 2 February 1897) and Antoine Marie Philippe Louis d'Orleans, Duke of Montpensier (31 July 1824 - 4 February 1890). Alfonso XII and Mercedes d'Orleans were married on 23 January 1878, at the Church of Atocha, in Madrid. Maria de las Mercedes d'Orleans died of tuberculosis on 26 June 1878, at Palacio Real, in Madrid. She was interred at the El Escorial. Alfonso XII married his second wife, Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria (21 July 1858 - 6 February 1929) on 29 November 1879, at the Basilica of Atocha, in Madrid. She was the daughter of Elisabeth Franziska, Archduchess of Austria (1831 January 17 - 1903 February 14) and Karl Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria (1818-1874). The couple had three children.

Alfonso XII died of tuberculosis on 25 November 1885. He was succeeded by his son, as Alfonso XIII. His father, Francisco de Asis died on 17 April 1902, in Épinay-sur-Seine. His mother, Isabella died on 19 April 1904, in Paris, France. She was interred at the El Escorial, in Spain. His wife, Maria Christina died on 6 February 1929, at Palacio Real, in Madrid. She was interred at the El Escorial.

19th Cent. Maximilian II, King of Bavaria.

Maximilian was born on 28 November 1811, in Munich. He was the son of Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen (8 July 1792 - 26 October 1854) and Ludwig I, King of Bavaria (25 August 1786 - 29 February 1868). His maternal grandparents were Charlotte Georgine of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (17 November 1769 - 14 May 1818) and Frederick, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg. His paternal grandparents were Princess Augusta Wilhelmine of Hesse-Darmstadt (14 April 1765 - 30 March 1796) and Maximilian I Joseph, King of Bavaria (27 May 1756 - 13 October 1825). His siblings were: Mathilde Karoline (30 August 1813 - 25 August 1862), Otto Friedrich (1 June 1815 - 26 July 1867), Theodolinde Charlotte (7 October 1816 - 12 April 1817), Luitpold Karl (21 March 1821 - 12 December 1912), Adelgunde Auguste (19 March 1823 - 28 January 1914), Hildegard Luise (10 June 1825 - 2 April 1864), Alexandra Amelie (26 August 1826 - 21 September 1875) and Adalbert Wilhelm (19 July 1828 - 21 September 1875). Maximilian married Marie of Prussia (15 October 1825 - 17 May 1889) on 12 October 1842. She was the daughter of Princess Marie Anna of Hesse-Homburg and Prince Wilhelm of Prussia.
 
The Children of Marie of Prussia and Maximilian II:
Otto Wilhelm Luitpold Adalbert Waldemar (27 April 1848 - 11 October 1916)
Ludwig I abdicated on 20 March 1848, in favour of his son, as Maximilian II. Maximilian II died aged 52, on 10 March 1864, in Munich. He was interred at the Theatinerkirche, in Munich. He was succeeded by his son, as Ludwig II. Ludwig I died on 29 February 1868, in Nice. He was interred at St. Boniface's Abbey, in Munich. Ludwig II and Dr. von Gudden were found dead on 13 June 1886, in the water near Lake Starnberg. He was interred at the St. Michael's Church, in Munich. Marie of Prussia died on 17 May 1889, at Hohenschwangau Castle, in Bavaria. She was interred at the Theatinerkirche.

19-20th Cent. Vittorio Emanuele III, King of Italy.


Prince Vittorio Emanuele was born on 11 November 1869, in Naples, Italy. He was the son of Margherita of Savoy-Genoa, Queen Consort of Italy (20 November 1851 - 4 January 1926) and Umberto I, King of Italy (14 March 1844 - 29 July 1900). His maternal grandparents were Elisabeth of Saxony, Duchess of Genoa (4 February 1830 - 14 August 1912) and Ferdinand, 1st Duke of Genoa (15 November 1822 - 10 February 1855). His paternal grandparents were Maria Adelaide of Austria (3 June 1822 - 20 January 1855) and Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy (14 March 1820 - 9 January 1878). Vittorio Emanuele's parents were married on 21 April 1868, in Turin, Italy. Prince Vittorio Emanuele married Princess Elena of Montenegro (8 January 1873 - 28 November 1952) on 24 October 1896, in Rome, Italy. She was the daughter of Milena Vukotić, Queen Consort of Montenegro (4 May 1847 - 16 March 1923) and Nikola I Petrović-Njegoš, King of Montenegro (7 October 1841 - 1 March 1921). King Umberto I was assassinated on 29 July 1900, in Monza by Gaetano Bresci. He was interred at the Pantheon, in Rome. He was succeeded by Vittorio Emanuele III. Vittorio Emanuele III and Elena of Montenegro had five children.

Umberto Nicola Tommaso Giovanni Maria (15 September 1904 - 18 March 1983) Married Princess Marie José of Belgium.
Giovanna Elisabetta Antonia Romana Maria (13 November 1907 - 26 February 2000) Married Boris III, King of Bulgaria in 1930.
Maria Francesca Anna Romana (26 December 1914 - 2001) Married Prince Luigi of Bourbon-Parma.
In 1914, World War I broke out with Britain, France, Italy, Russia, Serbia, USA and Japan against Austria, Germany and Turkey. His mother, Margherita of Savoy-Genoa died on 4 January 1926, in Bordighera. She was interred at the Pantheon, in Rome. His daughter, Mafalda married Prince Philip of Hesse, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel on 23 September 1925, at Racconigi Castle. His daughter, Giovanna married Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria in October 1930, in Assisi. In 1936, Vittorio Emanuele III became Emperor of Ethiopia, with Elena as his Empress Consort. In 1939, Vittorio Emanuele III became King of Albania, with Elena as his Queen Consort. Italy entered on 10 June 1940, World War II. In 1943, Vittorio Emanuele III was deposed as King of Albania. In September 1943, his daughter, Mafalda was transported to Buchenwald concentration camp. In November 1943, Vittorio Emanuele III renounced his title of Emperor of Ethiopia. Mafalda died on 27 August 1944, in Buchenwald concentration camp. Vittorio Emanuele III abdicated on 9 May 1946, in favor of his son, as Umberto II. Vittorio Emanuele died aged 78, on 28 December 1947, in Alexandria, Egypt. He was interred at St Catherine's Cathedral, in Alexandria, Egypt. Elena of Montenegro died on 28 November 1952, in Montpellier, France.

17-18th Cent. William Hogarth

 
William Hogarth was born on 10 November 1697. He attended the St Martin's Lane Academy, before he studied under Sir James Thornhill. William Hogarth married the daughter of his master, Miss Thornhill in 1729. In 1735, Hogarth painted A Rake's Progress and The Tempest. From 1735 to 1755, William Hogarth ran the academy in St Martin's Lane. In 1738, he completed Four Times of Day. In 1740, Portrait of Captain Coram and The Shrimp Girl. In 1742, The Graham Children. In 1743, Marriage à la Mode. Among the works of William Hogarth is also Anne Boleyn (1502-1536) is Introduced at Court by Henry VIII. In 1753, William Hogarth published The Analysis of Beauty. William Hogarth died on 26 October 1764.

Prince Georg August of Hanover was born on 10 November 1683, at Herrenhausen Palace, in Hanover. He was the son of Sophia Dorothea of Celle, Hereditary Princess of Hanover (15 September 1666 - 13 November 1726) and George I, King of Great Britain and Ireland (28 May 1660 - 11 June 1727). His maternal grandparents were Eleonore d'Esmier d'Olbreuse, Countess of Williamsburg (3 January 1639 - 5 February 1722) and George William, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg (26 January 1624 - 28 August 1705). His paternal grandparents were Sophia of the Rhineland Palatinate (14 October 1630 - 8 June 1714) and Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Elector of Hanover (20 November 1629 - 23 January 1698). Georg's parents were married in 1682. He had a sister, Princess Sophia Dorothea of Hanover (26 March 1687 - 28 June 1757). Prince George of Hanover married Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1 March 1683 - 20 November 1737) on 22 August 1705, in Hanover. She was the daughter of Eleonore Erdmuthe of Saxe-Eisenach (1662-1696) and Johann Friedrich, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1654-1686). His sister, Sophia Dorothea of Hanover married Friedrich Wilhelm, Crown Prince in Prussia (1688-1740) on 28 November 1706. The first child of Caroline and George was a son, Prince Frederick Louis born on 1 February 1707.

His mother, Sophia Dorothea died on 13 November 1726. In 1727, she was interred beside her parents in the Stadtkirche, in Celle. King George I died on 11 June 1727. He was succeeded by George II, crowned King on 4 October 1727, at Westminster Abbey. His wife, Queen Caroline died on 20 November 1737, at St. James's Palace, in London. She was interred at Westminster Abbey, in London. His daughter, Princess Louise married Prince Frederick of Denmark and Norway (31 March 1723 - 13 January 1766) on 11 December 1743, in Altona, Holstein. He was the son of Sophia Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach, Queen Consort of Denmark and Norway (28 November 1700 - 27 May 1770) and Christian VI, King of Denmark and Norway (30 November 1699 - 6 August 1746). King George II died aged 76, on 25 October 1760, at Kensington Palace, in London. He was interred at Westminster Abbey, London. He was succeeded by King George III.
