Princess Sophia Dorothea Ulrike Alice of Prussia was born on 14 June 1870, in Potsdam, Prussia. She was the daughter of Victoria of the United Kingdom, Empress Consort of Germany and Queen Consort of Prussia (21 November 1840 - 5 August 1901) and Friedrich III, German Emperor and King of Prussia (18 October 1831 - 15 June 1888). Her maternal grandparents were Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom and Empress of India (24 May 1819 - 22 January 1901) and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (26 August 1819 - 14 December 1861). Her paternal grandparents were Augusta of Saxe-Weimar (30 September 1811 - 7 January 1890) and Wilhelm I, German Emperor (22 March 1797 - 9 March 1888). Sophia's parents were married on 25 January 1858, in the Royal Chapel of St. James Palace. Her siblings were: Wilhelm II of Germany (1859-1941), Charlotte, Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen (1860-1919), Henry, Prince of Prussia (1862-1929), Sigmund, Prince of Prussia (1864-1966), Princess Viktoria of Prussia (1866-1929), Waldemar, Prince of Prussia (1868-) and Margaret, Landgravine of Hesse (1868-1940). During her childhood, Sophia was known as "Sossy". Her sister, Princess Charlotte of Prussia married Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Meiningen on 18 February 1878, in Berlin. Her father, Friedrich III died on 15 June 1888. He was interred in the Royal Mausoleum of the Friedenskirche, in Potsdam. He was succeeded by her brother, as Wilhelm II. Princess Sophia of Prussia married Crown Prince Constantine of Greece (2 August 1868 - 11 January 1923) on 27 October 1889, in Athens, Greece. He was the son of Olga Constantinovna of Russia and George I of Greece. The couple had six children.

Her sister, Princess Viktoria of Prussia married Prince Adolf of Schaumburg-Lippe (1859-1917) on 19 November 1890, in Berlin, Germany. Her sister, Princess Margaret of Prussia married Prince Frederick Charles of Hesse on 25 January 1893, at the Hohenzollern Stadtschloss, in Berlin. Her maternal grandmother, Queen Victoria died on 22 January 1901, at Osbourne, Isle of Wight. She was interred on 2 February 1901, in Frogmore Mausoleum, at Windsor Great Park. Her mother, Victoria of the United Kingdom died of breast cancer on 5 August 1901. She was interred on 13 August 1901, next to her husband in the Royal Mausoleum of the Friedenskirche, in Potsdam. Her father-in-law, King George I was shot on 18 March 1913, near the White Tower of Thessaloniki. He was interred in the Royal Cemetery, at Tatoi Palace, in Greece. Her husband, Constantine abdicated and they went into exile on 11 June 1917, to Switzerland. Their son, Alexander died on 25 October 1920. Constantine returned as King on 19 December 1920. Greece lost the Greco-Turkish War of 1920-1922. After an army revolt, Constantine abdicated the Throne for the second time on 27 September 1922. He was succeeded by his eldest son, as George II. Constantine died on 11 January 1923, in Palermo, Italy. He was interred 22 November 1936, in the Royal Cemetery, at Tatoi Palace, Greece. Sophia of Prussia died aged 61, on 13 January 1932, in Frankfurt, Germany. With the restoration of the Monarchy in Greece, her remains were interred beside her husband on 22 November 1936, in the Royal Cemetery, at Tatoi Palace, in Greece.
