Infanta Maria Teresa Antonia Rafaela of Spain was born on 11 June 1726, at Real Alcázar de Madrid, in Madrid, Spain. She was the daughter of Elisabeth of Parma, Queen Consort of Spain (22 October 1692 - 11 July 1766) and Felipe V, King of Spain ( 19 December 1683 - 9 July 1746). Her maternal grandparents were Dorothea Sophie of the Palatinate and Odoardo II, Duke of Parma. Her paternal grandparents were Maria Anna of Bavaria and Louis, Dauphin de France. From her father's first marriage to Maria Louisa of Savoy (17 September 1688 - 14 February 1714) she had four brothers: Infante Luis-Felipe of Spain (25 August 1707 - 31 August 1724), Infante Felipe of Spain (2 July 1709 - 18 July 1709), Infante Felipe of Spain (7 June 1712 - 29 December 1719) and Infante Ferdinand of Spain (23 September 1713 - 10 August 1759). Maria Louisa of Savoy died on 14 February 1714, in Madrid, Spain. Felipe V married Elisabeth of Parma on 24 December 1714. Maria Teresa's siblings were: Infante Carlos of Spain (20 January 1716 - 14 December 1788), Infante Francisco of Spain (21 March 1717 - 21 April 1717), Infanta Mariana Victoria of Spain (31 March 1718 - 15 January 1781), Infante Felipe of Spain (20 March 1720 - 18 July 1765), Infante Luis Antonio of Spain (25 July 1727 - 7 August 1785) and Maria Antonietta of Spain (17 November 1729 - 19 September 1785). Her sister, Mariana Victoria of Spain married Joseph of Portugal on 19 January 1729. Her brother, Carlos of Spain married Maria Amalia of Saxony ( 24 November 1724 - 27 September 1760) in 1738. Maria Teresa of Spain married Louis, Dauphin de France (4 September 1729 - 20 December 1765) by proxy on 18 December 1744, in Madrid, before they were married in person 23 February 1745, in France. He was the son of Maria Leszczyńska, Queen Consort of France and Navarre (23 June 1703 - 24 June 1768) and Louis XV, King of France and Navarre (15 February 1710 - 10 May 1774). As the new Dauphine de France, her name was changed to Marie-Thérèse-Raphaëlle. Her father, Felipe V died of a stroke on 9 July 1746, in Madrid, Spain. He was succeeded by Ferdinand VI. Marie-Thérèse-Raphaëlle and Louis had one daughter, Marie Thérèse de France born on 19 July 1746.

Marie-Thérèse-Raphaëlle of Spain died on 22 July 1746, at the Château de Versailles, in Versailles, France. She was interred in the Basilica of Saint-Denis, in Saint-Denis, France. Louis de France married his second wife, Princess Marie Josèphe of Saxony (4 November 1731 - 13 March 1767) on 9 February 1747. She was the daughter of Maria Josepha of Austria (8 December 1699 - 17 November 1757) and Frederick Augustus II, Prince Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (17 October 1696 - 5 October 1763). Louis Ferdinand de France died of consumption on 20 December 1765, at Château de Fontainebleau. He was interred in the Cathedral of St Étienne, in Sens. His heart was interred in the Basilica of Saint-Denis, in Saint-Denis. His son, Louis Auguste de France became the new Dauphin de France. Her mother, Elisabeth of Parma died on 11 July 1766, at the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, in Aranjuez, Spain. She was interred next to her husband, in the Colegiata of San Ildefonso.
